Buying land: ask which consents apply

Some transactions involving agricultural land require Land Control Board consent. The requirements depend on the land and transaction. Ask your advocate which approvals, documents and registration steps apply before signing or paying.

- Discuss the agreement and the seller’s authority.
- Ask whether Land Control Board or other consent is needed.
- Agree responsibility for completion documents and registration.
- Keep signed documents, receipts and correspondence together.
